Kampala, Uganda Bombing – Sixty four people were killed in two simultaneous bombing at Kampala, Uganda during the World Cup finals.

The two pairs of bombing struck a Ethiopian restaurant and a rugby ground, where the deadliest attack occurred as people watched the match Spain vs. Netherlands outdoors on a large-screen TV during the World Cup finals.

Spokeswoman Joann Lockard of the U.S. Embassy in Kampala said one American has been killed in the blast, and at least 3 more were wounded in theEthiopian restaurant who are all from a church-group in Pennsylvania. One of them was Kris Sledge, 18 of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.

Al-Shabab is believed to be the one responsible for the attack which is the most feared militant group in Somalia, said Kampala’s police chief. Al-Shabab has been known to have links with Al-Qaeda, an islamic militant group.

Reports said that the head and legs which were found in the restaurant is suggesting that a suicide bomber entered the scene.

Spokesman Tommy Vietor of the White House said that U.S. is ready to provide any necessary assistance to the Uganda government.

“The president is deeply saddened by the loss of life resulting from these deplorable and cowardly attacks, and sends his condolences to the people of Uganda and the loved ones of those who have been killed or injured,” Vietor said.
